Have you ever walked away from a conversation and thought, “Why did I tell them that?” Or asked someone, “How’s it going?” and suddenly you know their medical history, and why they’re not speaking to family.
Today, Greg Moulton, Mariam Serkal and Dr Julie Gowthorpe RSW talk about oversharing: why people do it, how to stop, and how to respond when someone gives you far more information than you expected.
People overshare often because they’re trying to connect. They may feel lonely, nervous, or worried they won’t be liked. Some people also hate silence. A pause happens, they panic, and suddenly they’re explaining the worst year of their life.
And when it come to social media, never post something when you’re emotional.
