That’s what SHE Dances…for GOOD is all about ,getting women together for an amazing night of music, laughter, connection, and fun while also supporting two incredibly meaningful causes.

Hosted by DJ K-Lav at Capers in Belleville, this event is shaping up to be one of those feel-good nights where you can let your hair down, hit the dance floor, and know you’re helping make a difference at the same time.

And honestly, we could all use more nights like that.

What makes this event especially meaningful is where the support is going. Proceeds will help both Heal With Horses Therapeutic Centre in Hillier and ovarian cancer awareness and support initiatives.

If you’ve never heard of Heal With Horses, it’s truly a special place right here in Prince Edward County. The organization offers therapeutic programs that help people heal, grow, and reconnect through interactions with horses and farm animals. For many participants, spending time with the animals provides comfort, confidence, emotional support, and even a sense of peace during difficult times. The event is also helping raise awareness for ovarian cancer, which impacts thousands of women and families. Belleville has always been a strong hockey town, but now fans will have another fast-paced, hard-hitting sport to rally behind as Senior B lacrosse officially arrives in the city. During the interview, Hill talked about the energy surrounding the new franchise, the importance of growing the game locally, and what fans can expect from the team’s inaugural season.

The Kodiaks are entering their first season in the Ontario Series Lacrosse league with plenty of excitement already surrounding the organization. The team will play a 12-game regular season schedule, including six home games at Wally Dever Arena.

The next home game for the Belleville Kodiaks is set for Friday, May 16th at Wally Dever Arena, where the team will once again look to defend home floor in front of what is expected to be another energetic hometown crowd.

 The addition of senior lacrosse gives Belleville another chance to showcase local athletes, build rivalries across Ontario, and create a new family-friendly entertainment option in the community.

Tickets for the home opener are priced at $10 for adults, while kids 16 and under can get in for $5.

On the MIX Morning Show, Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal sat down with Dr Julie Gowthorpe and therapist Lee Kellogg to discuss neurodivergency, and why that language matters.

We have to remember that behaviour is communication. A child may be overloaded, anxious, confused, sensory overwhelmed, exhausted, or struggling with a transition they cannot yet manage. That does not mean there should be no boundaries. It means the boundary should be paired with understanding.

People should remember that neurodivergent children are not a list of deficits. They are whole people. Many are creative, deeply observant, honest, funny, persistent, and intensely interested in the things they love. When we meet them with respect, their strengths become easier to see.

Today, Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal chat with Dr Julie Gowthorpe RSW about how to make habit changes happen.

Because wanting to change and having a system for change are not the same thing. A lot of people think: I need more motivation, but that doesn’t fall out of the sky.

Research has shown for years that good intentions matter, but they often do not reliably turn into action on their own. Habits are built by repeating the same action in the same kind of moment.

On Tuesday, Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal welcome Captain of the Senators Garrett Pilon to the show, ahead of the upcoming game against the Utica Comets tomorrow.

Garrett just celebrated his birthday the day before, and enjoyed it with Tiramisu cake.

The Bridge Integrated Services Hub, otherwise known as a HART Hub (Homelessness, Addiction and
Recovery Treatment), is now in operation at its permanent location on Alhambra Square in Belleville.

Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal were joined this morning by Ashley Vader, director of housing and homelessness Prince Edward, who explained how the HART Hub will make an impact in the community.

The Hub will offer dining, washrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a resting area, a spiritual/smudging room, and several spaces for various medical and social services staff.  It will operate 22 hours a day, seven days a week.

And Adam is a shining example of that.

On Tuesday, Adam visited Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal to give the Morning Crew an update on what Pathways to Independence has been doing lately.

“We recently wrapped up our Holi celebrations – a vibrant, colourful festival full of laughter, music, and yes, plenty of powder! It was a beautiful way to bring our community together and honour the spirit of new beginnings.

And just in time for spring, our annual Easter Egg Hunt had participants of all ages searching high and low— some very well-hidden eggs, and even better prizes,” he said.

In addition, Pathways to Independence is looking forward to its highly anticipated Staff vs. Supported Individuals Ball Hockey Game.

“Let’s just say both sides are very confident heading in,” added Adam.
