Summer is supposed to be the season when we feel our best — sunshine, vacations, patios, longer days. But what happens when everyone around you seems to be having the time of their life and you’re thinking, “Why don’t I feel happier?”
Today on the MIX Morning Show, Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal sat down with Dr Julie Gowthorpe RSW to talk about whether you can actually get the summertime blues.
We often associate seasonal depression with winter, but there is also a less common summer pattern of seasonal depression.
Earlier clinical research identified winter and summer depression as two different seasonal patterns that can even involve different physical symptoms.
Temperature and day length were also associated with depression severity, but those relationships differed significantly from person to person.
