Today on the MIX Morning Show, Sean Kelly, Mariam Serkal and Dr Julie Gowthorpe RSW talk about something every child and teenager needs, but many families struggle to get enough of: sleep.
Preschool children usually need about 10 to 13 hours of sleep over 24 hours.
Children between six and twelve need approximately 9 to 12 hours, while teenagers generally need 8 to 10 hours. Now, these are ranges rather than exact rules.
During adolescence, the body’s internal clock naturally shifts later. Many teens become sleepy later but still need to wake early for school.
Homework, stress, caffeine, gaming and social media can delay sleep even more.
