Its been over a week since Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica – leaving a path of destruction and nearly 2 million residents without power, water and food.
According to news reports, the devastating impact of the Category 5 storm caused damage estimated to be equivalent to around a third of the island nation’s GDP.
Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal pointed out that a number of initiatives have been launched to help support the people of Jamaica.
Jamaica Tourism is carrying out an initiative to receive aid, and you can show your support through one of its registered non-profit organisations: Food for the Poor – Canada, Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation, Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation and Sandals Foundation.
