Hurricane Melissa is merely a few hours away from landing in the Caribbean island, and residents with Jamaican ties are on their toes – wishing the best for their friends and family back home.
The Category 5 storm is being called the Storm of the Century, and is likely to cause catastrophic flooding, landslides and widespread damage.
Earlier this morning, the Red Cross warned that up to 1.5 million people may be directly affected.
Angella Bennett, regional director in Canada of the Jamaica Tourist Board, touched base with Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal, to give the latest update on how Jamaicans are bracing themselves for the hurricane.
