Last night my son and I along with my brother where out to watch the new F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, and I have to say — I loved it.
The acting was fantastic, with Pitt really bringing intensity and heart to the role. The whole cast felt like they belonged in the F1 world, and the way they immersed themselves into the actual racing environment was impressive. As a massive F1 fan, I appreciated the small details and homages sprinkled throughout — little nods that only diehards will catch, but they added a lot of depth for me.
Now, I didn’t think the romance subplot was entirely necessary, but I get why it was there — to bring in a wider audience. And honestly, that’s one of the strengths of this film. You don’t have to be an F1 fan to enjoy it. It’s entertaining, emotionally grounded, and visually stunning. At the same time, it doesn’t alienate long-time fans like myself.
Huge respect to the director, the cast, and especially Lewis Hamilton, who played a big role in bringing this project to life as a producer. Hats off to Liberty Media too — it’s great to see the owners of F1 supporting something that showcases the sport on a global stage like this.
The sport has grown massively in recent years, and this film does a great job of capturing what makes F1 so special. It’s the pinnacle of motorsport, and this movie reminds you exactly why.
9/10 from me. Highly recommend.
