International Peace Day is happening on September 21, and there’s a special event happening right here in the community.
On the MIX Morning Show, Mariam Serkal and Aaron Tompkins caught up with Chris Houston, co-founder of the Canadian Peace Museum.
The #StoriesofPeace2024 Award is an innovative competition inviting Canadians to explore and express their personal interpretations of peace through short videos and visual art.
This award celebrates creative reflections on the theme of peace, offering a $500 prize to the winner.
The winner of the #StoriesofPeace2024 Award will receive a custom-made trophy and a $500 prize. The award will be presented at the Stories of Peace Award Ceremony on September 24, 2024, from 4 to 6pm at the Bancroft Village Playhouse.

CN Tower Lighting
On September 21, The CN Tower will be lit in rainbow colors to symbolize peace. The lighting will begin at sunset, becoming fully visible approximately 30 minutes later as the sky darkens.
A standard light show will run for 5 minutes at the top of every hour, followed by another light show on the half hour. The night lighting will be visible by webcam on the CN Tower’s website: cntower.ca/live-views.
Niagara Falls Lighting
At 10:30pm on the same evening, Niagara Falls will be illuminated in the Canadian Peace Museum’s colors of pink, white, and purple.
This vibrant display is a visual representation of peace and the museum’s mission to promote nonviolence and understanding across communities.
