A dog-focused weather app called Pawcast by Weather.pet is generating tailored forecasts based on ground-level temperatures for a dog’s head and paws. Created by entrepreneur Clay Bartlett and a team of veterinarians, the app accounts for breed, coat length, body size, and age. Bartlett highlighted the need, noting asphalt recently measured 131°F while air temperature was just 98°F — a dangerous 33-degree gap. “That’s why our team of veterinarians, nurses, and dog trainers created Pawcast,” Bartlett said. Between late September and October, the app delivered 28,000 alerts to over 2,000 pet owners across all 50 states. Bartlett previously co-founded TeleTails, a veterinary telehealth platform serving 1.5 million pet parents. Pawcast is available on the App Store and Google Play.
