In just over a week we “fall back,” and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Foundation is getting the word out on how to prepare for the end of Daylight Saving Time. The foundation notes that “Chronically sleep deprived people are among the most impacted by the circadian misalignment caused by the time switch.” Teens, night-shift workers, and older adults are most impacted. The foundation suggests a precise timeline to use to get your body balanced:
-
Wednesday, Oct. 28: Go to bed at 10:20 p.m. and wake up at 6:20 a.m.
-
Thursday, Oct. 29: Go to bed at 10:40 p.m. and wake up at 6:40 a.m.
-
Friday, Oct. 30: Go to bed at 11 p.m. and wake up at 7 a.m.
-
Saturday, Oct. 31: use the same schedule as Oct. 28.
Another piece of advice from experts is to skip caffeine in late day.
