Most of the time it’s not one thing but an accumulation of things. Stress and tension build internally over days, weeks, months, and your body adapts until it can’t. Many people keep pushing because they want to stay functional and “stay the course,” but the mind and body keep sending warning signals that get ignored.
Similar feelings can happen when people have had lots of bad things happen to them over time, this known as complex trauma. And people also get to a point where emotionally they can’t take it any more.
