It’s summer – historically it was a time for outdoors, sports, and the beach but the reality is, for many, it’s the age of gaming.
This morning on the MIX Morning Show, Sean Kelly, Mariam Serkal and Dr Julie Gowthorpe RSW discuss kids, gaming, and the panic attacks parents see their children experiencing when they try to limit screen time with an effort to make summer a balance of good stuff.
A recent national survey on behalf of The Kids Mental Health Foundation reveals that half of parents are just as concerned about their child’s mental health during the summer as they are during the school year. And for some, these concerns intensify when the summer freedom means unlimited screen time.
In other words, it is parents who are saying that more screen time negatively affects their children’s mental health.
