Apparently, some of the things we do to be polite are quietly driving people nuts.
A Reader’s Digest list includes leaving long voicemails, replying “thanks” to an entire group email, and showing up early. I get that last one. If you tell me dinner’s at six and ring my doorbell at five-thirty, you’re going to meet the version of me who’s still looking for pants.
They also mention hugging hello, tagging people in photos without asking, and apologizing for every little thing. Which makes sense—although now I kind of want to apologize for ever saying “sorry” too much.
The one that surprised me? Saying “no worries.” I thought that was the universal way to end an awkward conversation. Now I need a new phrase, and honestly… sorry about that.
