Merriam-Webster just added about 1,400 words and updates to the dictionary, and apparently, the internet is now in charge of English!
“Looksmaxxing” made the cut. That’s trying to improve your appearance.
“Cuffing season” is in there too. That’s when people start looking for someone to date as the weather gets colder.
So basically, it’s September, you’re single, and suddenly someone to share a blanket with sounds like a great idea.
They’ve also added “vibe coding,” “meme coin” and “yacht rock.”
And I love that yacht rock is now an official dictionary term. Christopher Cross has been sailing for decades, and the dictionary’s only just caught up.
At this rate, “I’m just here for the vibes” will be a complete sentence on your next job application.
