Good news for dog owners — science says your furry best friend might actually help you live longer.
According to studies from the American Heart Association, owning a dog can lower your risk of death by about 24 percent.
Yep… apparently dogs are good for your heart. And honestly, that makes sense — they force you to get outside, go for walks, and occasionally sprint down the street yelling, “COME BACK WITH THAT SOCK!”
The study also found dog owners have a lower chance of dying early from things like heart attacks and strokes.
And if you’re regularly walking your dog? Even better. People who walk their dogs often cut their risk of dying by about 31 percent.
So basically your dog is like a tiny personal trainer… except instead of yelling “one more rep,” they’re just staring at you holding a tennis ball.
Of course the dog also expects payment… treats, belly rubs, and occasionally half your sandwich when you’re not looking.
But hey, if the trade-off for living longer is stepping in the yard at 6 AM while it’s freezing outside… apparently it’s worth it.
