First, some very sad news. Martin Short’s daughter, Katherine, has died at the age of 42 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to law enforcement sources. Just a heartbreaking story, and obviously our thoughts are with the family.
Russell Brand was back in court in London, pleading not guilty to new rape and sexual assault charges. He’s already denied earlier allegations, and now a judge will decide if these new claims get rolled into his trial, which is expected in June. So this legal saga is definitely not wrapping up anytime soon.
The family of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie is now offering up to a million dollars for information. Her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, shared an emotional message saying they’re still holding onto hope for a miracle. The FBI has also added a $100,000 reward. Just such a tough and heartbreaking situation.
On a much lighter note, Travis Kelce might be looking at a bit of a pay cut if he returns for another NFL season. He made about $17 million last year, but reports say it could drop closer to $13 million. I mean… that’s still pretty good for catching a football. If the Chiefs need someone for league minimum, I run a solid five-yard route.
Katy Perry has been spotted in Montecito with Justin Trudeau — yes, former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau — along with her daughter Daisy. Insiders say he’s been supportive and that she feels confident around him. Montecito just sounds like a place where brunch lasts four hours and everyone owns at least one linen outfit.
Vogue has announced this year’s Met Gala dress code: “Fashion is Art.” The exhibit, called Costume Art, celebrates the dressed body as creative expression. It all goes down May 4 at the Met, with Beyoncé co-chairing alongside Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams — and of course Anna Wintour overseeing it all. So get ready for outfits where we all nod and say, “Stunning,” even if we don’t totally get it.
Simon Cowell’s new boy band, December 10, sold just 6,300 copies of their debut single. Not exactly One Direction-level numbers. Apparently there’s some pressure behind the scenes to turn it around. Somewhere, Harry Styles just sneezed and doesn’t know why.
Winona Ryder is joining season three of Wednesday, reuniting with Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega. She’ll play a new character named Tabitha. With Stranger Things wrapping up, this feels like Netflix saying, “We’re keeping Winona. No questions.”
And finally, Tom Hanks is set to play Abraham Lincoln in a film adaptation of Lincoln in the Bardo. He’s also producing it. The story focuses on Lincoln grieving the loss of his young son and blends live-action with stop-motion animation. So yes, prepare to cry… but in a classy, award-season kind of way.
