Gratitude isn’t just about saying thank you. It’s a mindset that science shows can boost happiness, deepen our connections, and even parenting.
Today on the MIX Morning Show, Aaron Tompkins, Mariam Serkal and Dr Julie Gowthorpe RSW sit down to talk about how to tap into this.
Gratitude is tied to happiness because of what happens in the brain.
When we practice gratitude, whether it’s writing in a journal, saying thank you” or even just thinking about what we appreciate, our brain releases dopamine and serotonin. These are our natural feel-good chemicals.
People who practice gratitude regularly experience more joy, less stress, and they bounce back from things happening. Couples who thank each other more often report more trust and loyalty. And in the workplace, gratitude increases productivity and strengthens team bonds.
