Sharon Stone is feeling the love — and she’s not the only one.
The actress joined a wave of emotional responses to a Canadian tourism ad that’s been tugging at heartstrings across the internet. The 30-second spot, released in June by Quebec’s Eastern Townships Tourism, shows a man checking into a hotel. When he mentions he’s American, the receptionist smiles, slams a big red button, and walks around the counter to give him a warm, unexpected hug.
His initial confusion quickly melts into laughter. The message? “Come hug it out in the Eastern Townships.”
The short clip struck a major chord online, amassing over 7 million views — and Stone was among those moved. She dropped a simple but heartfelt comment on Instagram: “Thanks, we need a hug.”
Tourism officials say her reaction helped breathe new life into the campaign, reminding people of the deep, friendly ties between Canada and the U.S.
And Sharon’s not the only one feeling the feels. A Texan wrote, “This American would like a Canadian hug, please,” while another viewer shared a story about a spontaneous Montreal trip, calling the kindness they experienced “unforgettable.”
Even though travel from the U.S. to Canada has dipped slightly this year, tourism boards are stepping up their game. Vermont temporarily renamed a street “Canada Street,” and California’s governor recently posted a video inviting Canadians to visit.
Turns out, a little warmth — and a good hug — really can go a long way.
