Relationships. Why can’t everyone just be honest and straightforward?
This morning, Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal catch up with Dr Julie Gowthorpe, RSW to tackle the question, Why do people play games in relationships?
These “games” become toxic when the intention shifts from influencing outcomes to controlling or harming the other person. This can happen when someone’s insecurities drive them to manipulate and exploit vulnerabilities.
On overall, games are terrible. They are insensitive to the needs of another person, they are disrespectful and they don’t reflect well on the person playing them. Are they successful? In terms of developing a healthy relationship, absolutely not.
