I was reading this survey, and it turns out two-thirds of our American friends could live off sandwiches for a whole week and be just as happy as a moose in maple syrup! Now, that’s a commitment to sandwiches, I’ll give ’em that.
But, you know, when it comes to sandwiches, Americans and Canadians are like hockey and baseball – completely different games! It’s like they’re building sandwiches on a different rink altogether!
First of all, cucumbers outranking lettuce as a topping, and ketchup as the supposed best condiment for a sandwich? Are they serious? I mean, ketchup’s okay on a fried chicken sandwich, but on a classic sandwich? Now that’s a head-scratcher, eh? And get this – 41% of them even consider a hot dog to be a sandwich! Well, you gotta hand it to America, they sure know how to keep us entertained!
So, let’s take a look at some of the sandwich stats that set us apart, eh?
- Sandwich Meats: Over in the Great White North, we prefer our sandwiches stacked with chicken and the delicious Montreal Smoked Meat. While our American neighbors go for ham and turkey, we’ve got our sights set on some truly flavorful delights!
- Bread Choices: When it comes to bread, America goes all out with wheat, sourdough, and multigrain. But us Canucks, we like to keep it simple and cozy with classic white bread. After all, what’s better than a good ol’ white bread sandwich, eh?
- Cheese Toppings: Americans love their cheddar cheese, Swiss, American, pepper jack, and provolone. And you know what? We Canadians are pretty fond of cheddar too – but let’s not forget the ooey-gooey goodness of mozzarella cheese in our sandwiches, eh?
- Veggie Delights: In America, they’ve got tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, lettuce, and pickles as their favorite sandwich veggies. Meanwhile, we stick to the basics – tomatoes, lettuce, and onions. We like to keep it fresh and straightforward, just like our friendly demeanor!
- Condiment Choices: Now, this is where things get really interesting, eh? Americans are all about ketchup, barbecue sauce, mayo, honey mustard, and regular mustard. But us Canucks, we got our hearts set on one true love – mustard! Sweet or spicy, it’s the condiment that adds the perfect Canadian touch to any sandwich.
So, there you have it, folks – the great Canadian sandwich adventure! We may be different from our American friends in how we stack and spread our sandwiches, but one thing’s for sure – both countries have a whole lot of love for these handheld delights! Now, I’m off to enjoy a tasty Canadian sandwich – with extra mustard, of course! Stay awesome, eh!
