You might have thought seeing a robot-version of The President was cool back in the day, but now Disney Imagineers are working on an animatronic Groot that will actually be able to roam the parks on its own!
The Guardians of the Galaxy character is currently being turned into a fully mobile, bipedal robot as a part of Disney Imagineering’s “Project Kiwi,” which has been in development for the past three years.
Footage was first revealed of Groot a few weeks ago, around the same time Disney revealed a retractable lightsaber, and while there are no immediate plans to bring Groot to the parks, there is footage of him in action.
