Good news for single people out there – people in relationships are just as happy as you are!
A new study finds that married people aren’t any happier than those without a partner and that single people and married couples have similar levels of lifelong happiness and well-being.
The study analyzed the relationship histories of over 7,500 people throughout their lives, starting at age 18 and going until they were 60. Participants then ranked their overall happiness later in life. And during those 42 years, 79% of them were married to the same person consistently, 8% were consistently single or unmarried and 13% had “varied relationship histories,” which means they were in and out of relationships, divorced, remarried or widowed.
Researchers looked at the happiness level of each group, and it turns out, single adults and those with varied relationship histories had the same levels of happiness. Married people had slightly higher numbers, but the differences weren’t substantial.
Now just go ahead and bookmark this in case your family asks you why you aren’t dating anyone and show them that you’re just as happy!!
