College students are known for partying, but it turns out those that get more sleep get better grades. Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers found students who averaged six-and-a-half hours of sleep each night got grades 50 percent lower than students who averaged seven-and-a-half hours of sleep per night. Also, students who went to bed after 2 a.m. performed worse on tests, even if they got seven hours of sleep. One other finding: the sleep students got during the days when learning happened did better on tests than people who just got good sleep the night before the test. Still, researchers say the findings cannot prove that causation.
