If you’re dragging in the middle of the day and need a quick energy boost, experts say the solution might be a little weird… just smell something good.
Apparently certain scents can trigger neurotransmitters in your brain that help you focus and feel more energized.
Basically your brain smells something nice and goes,
“Alright… let’s get it together.”
Experts say some of the best energy-boosting scents include lemongrass, coffee beans, peppermint, oranges… and chocolate.
Which means technically… if you’re tired at work you could just walk around sniffing a chocolate bar and call it science.
Coffee makes sense though. Half the world already starts their morning by smelling coffee before they even drink it.
Peppermint and orange are supposed to help with alertness too… which explains why a lot of gum and mints are peppermint flavored.
And chocolate? That one might be dangerous… because nobody just smells chocolate and walks away.
That’s like saying, “I’m just going to smell the pizza… not eat it.”
But hey, if someone asks why you’re standing in the break room sniffing coffee beans… just tell them you’re boosting productivity.
