If each time you turn on the news, you are asking yourself, ‘What now?!’ You are not alone.
Today on the MIX Morning Show, Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal talk with Dr Julie Gowthorpe, RSW on how to emotionally cope with uncertainty in our current political world.
In order to emotionally cope with political uncertainty, focus on what’s within your control. This means staying informed through reliable sources, engaging in constructive dialogue, and taking practical actions in efforts that are aligned with your values.
So for some people this means, they have made an effort to buy Canadian, while for others, they have cancelled trips to the US. For those that support what is happening, there actions will be different.
Research indicates that individuals vary in their tolerance for uncertainty. Some people naturally find uncertainty more distressing due to factors like past experiences, personality traits, or even genetic predispositions.
This lower tolerance can contribute to heightened levels of anxiety and stress when faced with uncertain situations. Some of us are able to tolerate those thing we can’t control better.
