Are you coping with how you were parented as a child?
This morning, Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal talk with Dr Julie Gowthorpe, RSW about something that unfortunately resonates with many people: growing up with a narcissistic parent and how to heal.
There are many ways of describing these people from vulnerable narcissists, where they are more covert, make you feel sorry for them and then there are the overt or even malignant narcissists who lie and have antisocial traits. This is what we are talking about.
We are not specifically talking about people who have been diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, or NPD. This is a clinical diagnosis characterized by persistent patterns of manipulation, entitlement, and emotional exploitation.
This morning, we’re helping individuals understand how certain traits, narcissistic ones, effect parenting and those raised by these people.
