With summer break here, parents everywhere are gearing up for the challenge of keeping their kids engaged and happy.
This morning, Sean Kelly and Mariam Serkal talk with Dr Julie Gowthorpe, RSW about how to create a summer schedule that balances fun and healthy habits.
Recent research regarding the implications of too much screen time makes creating plans for summer even more important than in the past.
The Canadian Pediatric Society recommend no screen time for children under two years old, For children two to five years old limit screen time to less than one hour a day, For children older than five limit screen time to less than two hours a day.
This means that there are many hours in the summer that need to be occupied in another way. This means incorporating play, both indoor and outdoor, reading, crafts, games etc.
