Hey, if you find yourself busting out those double-handed dance moves and you think they’re awesome, TikTok’s got some news for you – you might officially fall under the category of “old person” now. It turns out that raising both hands while dancing is the latest sign that you’ve crossed over into the “experienced” realm. According to the Gen Z crowd, they’re not exactly keen on this particular move.
So, there’s this dude who looks like he’s in his mid-30s, right? He went out dancing at a club, and a younger woman called him out on it. She claimed she could spot an “older” dancer from a mile away because they tend to raise both their hands while dancing, with slightly bent elbows.
And here’s the kicker: it’s even worse if you start clapping before you raise the roof, or if your palms are facing up like you’re about to launch into a “raise the roof” move – that’s the ultimate giveaway of your seniority.
The guy had an epiphany once she pointed this out to him. He realized that this hand-raising dance move was straight out of his mom’s playbook. Suddenly, he felt like he might be a tad too long in the tooth to be tearing it up at the club.
