Every generation’s got its own lineup of characters: the cool cats, the uncool ones, the folks who are desperately trying to be cool, and of course, those who couldn’t care less, not even about a rat’s rear end.
And speaking of generational quirks, there’s a fancy new study that’s diving deep into the wild world of slang. You know, those words we toss around like confetti at a New Year’s Eve party.
For our beloved Boomers, their numero uno slang champ is “bummer,” closely followed by “mellow” and “wannabe.” Those folks sure know how to keep it groovy!
Now, for the Gen X crowd, it’s all about keeping it “chill,” followed by a healthy dose of “lame” and, you guessed it, “bummer.” Way to stay, well, chill, Gen X.
Meanwhile, our tech-savvy Millennials are screaming “OMG!” from the mountaintops, with “chill” and “lame” playing their trusty sidekicks.
Last but not least, our Gen Z warriors are all about “selfies,” with a side of “OMG” and a dash of “ghosted.” They’ve got the selfie game strong, no doubt.
But wait, there’s more! We’ve got a list of slang words that folks from each generation are itching to toss into the linguistic dumpster for all eternity.
For Boomers, “woke” tops the “please make it stop” list. (Although, it’s a bit ironic since they might be the only ones still saying it.) They’re also hoping to say “adieu” to “gucci” and “sheesh.”
Gen X is on a mission to cancel out “thirsty,” “clap back,” and “slay.” They’re out to slay these words, for sure!
Millennials want to forget all about “slay,” “sus,” and “clout.” They’ve had enough of those terms and are ready to move on.
As for Gen Z, they’re giving the boot to “savage” and “POV.” Sayonara to those words!
But hey, it’s not all about being Grinches with words. Each generation also had a wishlist of slang words they’d love to resurrect from the linguistic graveyard.
Boomers are itching to bring back “far out,” “peace out,” and yes, you guessed it, “bummer.” Maybe they’re planning a retro slang party?
Gen X wants to revive the classics like “right on,” “groovy,” and “epic.” They’re keeping it real old-school.
Millennials, on the other hand, want to resurrect the cringe-worthy “cool cat,” “cowabunga,” and “talk to the hand.” Well, let’s hope not everyone’s on board with that one!
And last but not least, Gen Z is ready to bring back “YOLO,” “rad,” and “wazzup.” So get ready for some “wazzup” moments with a side of “YOLO,” folks!
