Did you know Canada’s on a roll, and not the good kind?
So, turns out Canadians are cutting down more trees for toilet paper than we’d like to admit. On average, each Canuck uses enough TP to stretch 630 km in their lifetime, landing us in 11th place globally for TP consumption. But hey, when nature calls, you gotta answer, right?
A UK-based bathroom fittings company, QS Supplies, crunched the numbers and found that over 2 million trees get turned into TP just for Canadians. That’s a lot of deforestation! Not to mention, it releases tons of CO2 and leaves a whole lot of barren land.
But here’s the kicker: it’s not just bad for the environment; it’s also not the best for your bum. You see, paper doesn’t quite do the job like water does, and it can even transmit diseases. Eek!
Now, let’s talk TP usage around the world. The US and Portugal are leading the race, with over 1,000 km of TP used per person in their lifetime. But hey, we’re not so bad, right?
So next time you’re in the bathroom, remember, your stink isn’t the only problem—it’s a tree-mendous one too. Time for some personal accountability on the porcelain throne!
