Today was a big day… Ontario students wer not able to use their cellphones in classrooms or during “instructional time.” Of course there are exceptions made if the device is required for health & medical purposes, to support special education needs or if it’s necessary for a lesson. The last few months was to provide time for educators and students to prepare for the ban.
Historically speaking, a cell phone ban hasn’t gone over well. Back in 2011, the Toronto District School Board dropped it after officials determined it was too difficult to enforce.
Since it’s a provincial ban, officials are hoping that it will stick…. I hate to sound like a I’m an expert on this…. But this idea…. It’s not gonna work….. I’m already hearing… Teachers don’t care… Students don’t care!
Time will tell!
