A new study has found that patience is an extremely rare quality — as it’s all because of technology. A survey of 2,000 British adults done by One Poll found that three quarters of people believe the dominance of digital technology is the cause for the growing lack of patience. Respondents reported becoming frustrated after just 16 seconds of waiting for a web page to load and after 25 seconds of waiting for a traffic light to change. Respondents also reported losing their temper after 20 seconds of waiting for ink to dry on a greeting card, 22 seconds to start curing their computers or TVs if a show or a movie doesn’t start streaming correctly. They also reported getting angry after 18 seconds of searching for a pen. The survey also found that 38% of respondents had lost their patience while trying to take notes and keep up with a speaker during class or a work meeting. Respondents even got angry while boiling tea and the kettle took more than 28 seconds to boil. Despite, all of impatience, the survey revealed that most people are willing to wait a few days for a package or a letter in the mail — and 95% of respondents still admitted that they believe patience is a virtue.
