A British data science company called DataSparQ, developed a system called “AI Bar” that recognizes when a person walks up to the bar with facial recognition technology. The system logs the person’s face on a video screen and adds them to a constantly running queue. According to the company, they use a standard webcam and display screen for this service.
Basically, the software will identify your face, put it on the screen that patrons can view, and put a small green circle around your face. You’ll be given a designated number to mark your place in line plus an estimated wait time for your drink.
The “AI Bar” can also memorize your drink order and will remember your face for “a short period of time” if you happen to leave your spot at the bar. However, the company claims that “no facial images are stored” and that data is “deleted within 24 hours.”
