It turns out that “white meat” can be just as bad for your cholesterol levels as red meat, according to a new study, going against what had been thought.
Researchers who looked at people who switched between eating diets high in red meat, white meat such as poultry, and plant-based proteins found that plant-based protein was less likely to cause high cholesterol than meat, but the difference in the effect on cholesterol between white and red meat was insignificant.
