Dr. Robert Vaughan was the man responsible forĀ bringing Major Junior A hockey to the Quinte region and a legend in our community and the hockey world.
Dr. Robert (Bob) Vaughan, one of the inaugural owners of the of the Belleville Bulls lost his battle with lung disease on yesterday afternoon at Belleville General Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was part of an ownership group that formed and entered the Belleville Bulls in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League from 1979 to 1981, culminating with a Dudley Hewitt Cup championship and berth in the national championship.
Vaughan would remain principle owner until 2004 when the team was sold to Uxbridge businessman Gord Simmonds. The team was subsequently sold again in 2015 and moved to Hamilton.
Former Belleville Bulls and NHL hockey players Steve Bancroft
