Boo!!!!!
If you’re watching your weight you may want to steer clear of scary movies. Lebanese American University looked at over 80 participants in their 20s and 30s. They found those who watched a violent movie reported feeling more nervous, exhausted, and sad after watching their film, while those who watched a romantic comedy did not experience this negative change in emotions.
Also, the group who watched the violent film ate an average of 6.45 food items offered, while the rom-com group ate an average of 4.93 food items. Additionally, violent film watchers were more likely to eat fatty food items compared to rom-com watchers.
Study author Dr. Lama Mattar says, “Our results [show] that violent movies had an acute stressful and intense effect on spectators, even though watching a movie is a passive activity. This result implied that weight gain and obesity associated with screen time may not only be attributed to the fact that it is a sedentary activity, but also to an associated increase in energy-dense snacking.”
