A new balaclava sweater that Gucci had up for sale was taken down quickly after many said it resembled blackface.
In a statement, Gucci apologized and says they have removed it from online and in stores. “We are fully committed to increasing diversity throughout our organization and turning this incident into a powerful learning moment for the Gucci team and beyond.”
While some believed the company was using stereotypes as a marketing tactic, others didn’t think of it as a big deal.
