I highly doubt the Quinte Region will ever have to deal with this problem!
A small Newfoundland town called Roddickton is dealing with an invasion of harp seals.
The town’s mayor says about 40 seals have been trapped by ice in the town’s harbour since last week and they’re now clumsily moving around looking for food and crying out. Sheila Fitzgerald says the town has asked the federal Fisheries Department for help. She says the wayward animals have been blocking roads, driveways and doors and residents are unable to move them because it is illegal to touch marine mammals. The seals may be too disoriented to find their way back to the ocean.
There are reports that two seals may have been hit by cars.
