Canada will be pink on Wednesday, February 28th! Pink Shirt Day is the day where we wear pink shirts to stand up against bullying. This year there is a huge focus on fighting cyber bullying, online bullying that unfortunately becomes more common every day. Not only does Pink Shirt Day raise awareness against bullying but they also raise money for anti-bullying organizations across Canada.
Pink Shirt Day began in after two students in Novia Scotia, Travis Price and David Shepard, bought pink shirts to stand up for another student who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. Various forms of Pink Shirt Day are now celebrated all around the world.
Use #PinkItForward in February to show support. Coast Capital will donate $1 to anti-bullying organizations in British Columbia for every use of the hashtag during the month.
