My first tattoo was due to the anxiety of turning 30 years old and I wanted to mark that moment with a tattoo. I am glad I did, because I marked myself with the concept that life was going to pass me by if I did not get engaged or married by 30. I thought I would turn into a spinster. BUT I DID NOT. Even though I did get a tattoo, I did get engaged and quickly disengaged, because I did not self-combust like I thought I would. So, I had the tattoo and that reminded me that no matter where I was in life, there was no rush and to go at my own pace. I would later get a 2nd and third later in my life to also mark a time and place where I was and life altering experiences and I wanted to carry the tattoo’s as a reminder of where I was and where I am now.
I am progressing everyday and the world of tattoos is progressing too, they are no longer taboo and more than sailors and war vets have them.
The most recent tattoo was to celebrate love and the possibility of growth and change. Love is 100% free to all of us – even though the only thing certain is death and taxes, love is still one thing that is not taxed , although without it we may feel we are dying.
There are a lot of great tattoo shops in Belleville, I have had tattoos from 3 different artists, one is Dan Haley from Lone Wolf. Dan’s shop has a nice vibe and it even smells good! Dan makes you feel relaxed and at ease and he is very professional from the start to the finish. The experience should always be one that is enjoyable and memorable.
Always do your research when you are getting your tattoos, think about what you want and make sure it’s for YOU. Orlena x
